| dc.description | Population ageing is a globally recognized phenomenon, and according to the World Health Organization (WHO), individuals aged 60 years and older are commonly classified as older adults, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, where this threshold serves as a benchmark for demographic and health policy planning. To better capture the diversity within this population, gerontological research further distinguishes three subgroups: the “young-old” (60–74 years), who are generally active and maintain a high level of independence; the “middle-old” (75–84 years), who may begin to experience functional decline and increased health needs; and the “oldest-old” (85 years and older), who are often characterized by greater frailty, multiple chronic conditions, and higher levels of dependency | ru |
