Human oocyte ultrastructure undergoes remarkable changes during
maturation, finalized to yield a competent cell for fertilization and embryo formation.
ART procedures may alter these delicate maturation processes and reduce oocyte
quality. In this paper, we review the fine structural changes of human oocytes
subjected to several ART procedure, with the aim to emphasize the importance of
its preservation for the success of the treatment of infertility
